As leaders in the field digitally and in live experiences, Jacob Jonas The Company explores the intersection of concert dance and popular culture. Inspired by its Los Angeles roots, JJTC pushes the boundaries and investigates future solutions to our field with focus on creativity, connectivity and health.
Having worked with leading institutions, popular artists and brands, JJTC communicates new ideas and perspectives on dance and the performance field at large, celebrating non-traditional collaborations through physicality, explosivity, expression and humanity.
The company offers individual classes, in-depth workshops and multi-day intensives locally in Los Angeles and internationally, teaching at leading institutions including Orsolina28 (Italy), The Juilliard School, USC Kaufman School of Dance, Henry Jurriëns (Amsterdam), Acosta Dance Centre (London), UCLA World Arts and Culture, USC Marshall School of Business, and CalArts.
THE SYSTEM
There are many systems in the natural world—the solar system, the nervous system, the ecosystem, the river systems, the tree root system. JJTC has created its own movement system called The System, inspired by the spine, the sun, the architecture of the body, and the beauty and rawness that come with it. It’s about water—both still and running—and the trees, illustrating how deeply rooted we are. The System serves as a physical language guiding our performance practices, as well as a somatic technique designed to support health-focused initiatives and promote holistic well-being through movement.
